We are pleased to invite you to the First International Balkanistics Conference-Balkan languages, literatures, and cultures, which will be hosted by the Balkanistics Programme, Faculty of Philology, University of Prishtina on 29.05.2024-01.06.2024. The conference will be of the broad nature and its main objective is to promote the Balkanistics study programme at the University of Prishtina.
Articles which examine the evolution, transformation, and the interactive relationship of Balkans languages, literatures, and cultures besides the challenges that Balkan study programmes encounter are looked forward to. Some of the main topics that the conference aims to cover are related, but not limited to the following:

□ The structure of the Balkan languages
□ Linguistic corpora and corpus languages in the Balkans
□ Sociolinguistic studies in the Balkans
□ Bilingualism and multilingualism in the Balkans
□ History of Balkan languages
□ Literature in the Balkans
□ Comparative Balkan literature, Balkan vs World literature
□ Multiculturalism and National Identity in the Balkans
□ Tradition and Modernity in the Balkans
□ Balkan folklore
Abstract submission
Presentations (in English language only) will be 15 min., followed by 5 min. discussion. A Conference Proceedings Book is foreseen to follow the conference and the articles will be published in English and any of the Balkan languages.

Abstract submission deadline: April 10th 2024
Conference dates: May 29th - June 1st 2024
Planned activities: Arrival of the guests- May 29th, Opening and session- May 30st, Excursion- May 31st, Departure of the guests- June 1st, 2024.
