We are thrilled to share the successful finalization of the project ‘Initiating transformation of assessment and establishing academic integrity practices at the University of Prishtina’, funded by U.S. Embassy Pristina, Kosovo, administered by KUSA, and implemented by the Department of English Language and Literature, Universiteti i Prishtinës.
For the past 6 months, the project has created space for dialogue and innovation between students and academic staff from Faculties of Philology, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Medicine, and Economy. As a result of this project:
- 32 students participated in a workshop reflecting on assessment at UP, expressing their eagerness for more alternative assessment which does not encourage memorization.
- 23 members of academic staff attended a two-session webinar on assessment design, with a focus on designing assessments that encourage higher-order thinking skills led by Dr. Juli Sarris.
- a guidebook on Alternative Assessment in Higher Education was developed. The guidebook includes: over 30 tasks and assessments, designed by 17 members of the academic staff at the University of Prishtina; tools and strategies to increase assessment transparency and objectivity; and three unconventional interdisciplinary tasks.
- a website on academic integrity was developed, to help students develop and uphold the principles of academic integrity.
