In the framework of the project "Narratives in the Arbëresh communities of Sicily in Italy", supported by MEST, the Department of Albanian Language from 11.-17.05.2023 has carried out an expedition through the Arbëresh villages of Sicily.

The purpose of this expedition was to look at the current linguistic and cultural situation of the Arbëresh of Sicily in Italy, in order to address the needs of the Arbëresh community in the state institutions in Kosovo, on which new projects can be undertaken that will help the cultural life of this community, namely the preservation of identity through elements such as Arbëresh language, their customs, traditions etc. Identifying and recording this reality and their needs is very important.

This expedition was carried out in the Arbëresh villages: Piana Degli Albanezi, Santa Kristina, Kuntisa and Palaco Adriano. The project will be concluded with the realization of a documentary that will reflect the real linguistic and cultural situation in these villages and the main idea of the project itself.
