On June 1, the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of Prishtina welcomed 45 pupils from Bajram Curri School, for a celebration organized by our fourth year  students under the guidance of the Head of Department, Professor Blerta Mustafa.

Through games, interactive activities, discussions about children’s rights, dancing, and plenty of opportunities to connect and have fun, the children enjoyed a memorable Children’s Day in a university setting, many of them visiting a faculty for the very first time.

The event was organized in collaboration with Nita Sahiti, an alumna of our department and now an English teacher at Bajram Curri School. Through initiatives such as this one, she continues to put into practice the values she embraced during her studies: learning beyond the classroom, community engagement, and creating meaningful opportunities for young learners.

The impact of the event was perhaps best reflected in the children’s own words. One pupil described it as “my favorite school day ever,” while another said, “I loved visiting the faculty. I want to come back again.” For some, it was “the best surprise for Children’s Day,” and one student made us especially proud by saying, “I can’t wait to grow up and study in this department.” Perhaps the comment that captured the spirit of the day best was simply: “The best day of my life!”
